noisy gears

is there anyhting I can do to make the whine coming from my new Richmond gears less noticeable. The shop that put them in for me told me not to put Richonds in because they were the noisiest gears they have came across. They recomended,Motive,Superior, and GM gears all before Richmonds.
So what can I do? Extra sound paddening? Synthetic gear oil?

If it's too loud, it's a sign of an improperly set-up gear set. I, of course, don't know how loudly you gears are whining so I can't make that call. If it isn't too bad, just try not to think about it...you'll get used to it.

My 9-bolt whines too, but only when I do not have my foot on the gas. If it whines all the time = bad setup. You get used to it I think...

That's like my Richmond set. Doesn't really whine unless it's at 40-50 mph.

I cant really blame it on the guy who installed them because he said every Richmond he's seen made noise. And I;ve heard alot of people tell me not to get them......I called Jegs and Sumitt techlines and asked them about Richmonds making noise, and they both gave me the line...."its an urban legend that RIchmonds make noise."
and "...thats just a bad rumour..." so apparently there is some truth about Richmonds being noisy.

Synthetic gear lube may help reduce the whine, but don't count on it eliminating it.
