605 Autolites on vortecs?

Thats what I bought, should I return them for something better? They were like 1.25$ each so if they will work I'll use them at that price, I checked the part number and he gave me the right intake gasket for my Vortecs, I just told him to give me 8 sparkplugs for those same heads, he only had ACDelco Plats, so I took the autolites, will they work? I don't really care if there is something better....(do tell so the next time I buy I can get better) I just want to know if these will work.

Edit: can someone tell me if the 87' camaro serp setup uses short or long water pump....it looks short...but I have no idea.

i just used the double platinums with my vortecs... so i dont know about the spark plugs...

but i think all small blocks after 67 except in corvettes used the long water pump... i know that all early thirgens did... but im not sure about serpentine systems... id guess that they use the long too... if you got a picture of your old water pump, or just take it in when you get a new one and they can probably figure it out for you... (theyll probably want a core charge too if you are indeed gonna get a new water pump)

R44LTS is the correct AC-Delco non platinum plug. Have the counter person at the parts store cross reference this # over to Autolight and see if it matches the ones you got.

Personally, I only use the AC's

I only use Autolite plugs, they are a good plug. Your setup is a long water pump. The difference between a V belt driven water pump and a serpentine driven is the rotation. The serpentine driven water pump is known as a reverse rotation pump. It is spun in the opposite direction as the V driven pump.

Switching the two will result in painful over-heating problems.

as long as the guy looked up the right application for your plugs then you're fine. autolite makes an excellent plug

rbob, are you saying the water pump i bought from pep boys isn't going to work? or did he know what i needed and give me the right one?

the diff between "long" and "short" is the neck where the pulleys go on right, not the inlet/outlet legs..

As long as the pump he gave you is for a serpentine setup and that is what you have, you are good to go. To check a pump for rotation remove the rear cover plate and compare the direction of the curve on the pump vanes to your current pump.

The short/long pump difference is in the mounting legs.
