New Fuel Lines?
New Fuel Lines?
I am putting a 5.7 TPI motor out of an 89 GTA into my 84 Camaro. The fuel lines on the GTA look pretty bad. Is there any place that sells new fuel lines for our TPI cars? How much would they cost? Thanks.
X84,
You can probably find lines from the dealer, any well-stocked auto parts store, or fabricate your own. I like to keep a few feet of hose and a few odd fitting s around just for the purpose of making my own fuel, transmission cooler, , coolant, power steering, and oil cooler hoses to whatever length and configuration I want.
Low pressure MSHA fuel hose, compression fittings, and standpipe connectors with whatever kind of fittings you might need are available from nearly any decent industrial supplier. Parker Series 421 hose and Series 42 reusable fittings are among my favorites. They can be assembled without special tools or swaging equipment by anyone just this side of idiocy. The hose is called "low pressure" because it has a rated working pressure of 2,000 PSIG in the ½" size - low pressure by industrial standards. The 421 hose is rated for gasoline, alcohol, anti freeze, hot oil, air, hydraulic fluids, water, and grease, and for working temperatures of -40°F to 250°F. You can make your own custom lines for about $1.75 per foot plus fittings at about $7.00 each.
