Burning Coolant?
Burning Coolant?
Only 600 miles on my engine. Went out to the track wednesday, it ran great, didn't notice the coolant temp get over 180 degrees. Came home and parked the car. Changed the oil over to full synthetic (Mobil 1) on friday night. It started a little rough after I changed the oil, then stalled, so I restarted it and gave it a little gas till it didn't die. After that it idled fine for 15 minutes then I shut it down.
Took the car out for the first time since I changed the oil today, was running a little rough, took it around the block, and the temperature shot up to 220 degrees. Parked it back in the garage and noticed the coolant reservoir was empty, opened up the radiator and it was very low.
Filled the radiator and reservoir up and it ran fine again after that. I checked the oil I took out from the oil change and there wasn't any coolant in it. The motor isn't making any smoke.
So the question is, where did all my coolant go? I have a 160* thermosat.
