Alright My car keeps giving me problems about a day ago it started knocking. From idle to WOT it knocks sounds like its comming from the block sounds the same from both sides of the car and from the bottom. Its not the exhaust. SO howdo I pin point the problem and if it is a push rod, how much money are we talking about to get it fixed you know don't want to get riped off. Any help would be great I'm stuck and I don't know what to do.:doh:

 

Get a long screwdriver - put the metal end on a part of the engine, put the plastic handle against your ear - this acts like a stethescope, transferring the vibrations directly to your ear, and you can tell amazing things with this - it will help you pinpoint the noise. I've also used the antena to reach really deep (in the engine compartment, not my ear!).
