Help - Ready to break this computer in half!!
Hopefully you guys could spot this problem going on with my Z before I rip out this TPI.
Well I decided to polish my TB, Plenum, and runners seeing how nice everyone elses looks, so I went ahead and removed everything (snorkle, tb, plenum, runners) and polished away. After it was all said and done I put everything back, double checked all electrical and vacuum lines and everything looked okay.
I then reconnected the battery and fired her up and was idling at ~ 2300 RPM, I left it running for about 5 minutes come to find out it was still idling at 2300 RPM. It was a steady idle, it didnt fluctuate between RPMs. It didnt seem right so i shut the car off and rechecked everything again.
All connections seemed to be in the right place so I fired it up once again I was really suprised, the car idles just like normal ~ 1000 RPM, I let it run for a little while to see if anything out of the ordinary would happen... Nothing, seems fine to me so I shut it off.
About 10 minutes later I decided to go to a friends house to show off my chrome looking intake but now uh..oh.. when I started up the car it would idle at 2000 RPM for half a second then just quickly drop to 500 RPM it sounded like it magically put a bigger cam in without me knowing..(lol cool)!
I tried disconnecting the battery to reset the computer (I dont know what I was thinking) and start it up again. SAME PROBLEM
Why is this so complicating.. Why cant it be like a carb, air/fuel mixture or timing?
Any suggestions/help will greatly be appriciated.

My IROC is an '89 and the most I did to the sensors were just disconnecting them. They all lock into place with that safety clip thingy so I dont think they could have been plugged in the wrong way.

Why are you mad at your computer? You're the one that screwed it up. I'd advise that you just rip the tpi off right now if you're that bad with it or have that little patience.
If you do choose to keep it, you may want to check for vacuum leaks between the intake components, make sure you didn't knock the throttle position sensor out of alignment, make sure the idle air control valve is actually plugged in, and check the throttle plate/cables to see if they're sticking on something. Don't reset anything if you didn't touch it in the first place unless you've hooked up a scanner or voltemeter and found it to be set incorrectly.

NOT to say that this is his problem but do our cars have idle relearn procedures???? Meaning drive the car and the problem will fix itself.
