QUICK! Harmonic Balancer Question!

On a 92 305 TPI (lb9) harmonic balancer, is the timing mark supposed to be aligned with the crank keyway, or a few degrees off (about 1/2")?

I need to put it back on today, but Im not 100% sure if it has slipped... I searched but didnt find the answer.

Please, help quick!

the timing mark should be a few degrees off of the keyway, as far as I can remember. Just built 2 engines within the last month. Hope this helps, sorry I couldn't be 100% sure.

The timing grooves on most balancers are about 7° retarded from the crank keyway. 7° is about as closely as I could measure with my equiupment. I've heard a rumor that some Corvettes used a different timing tab on some earlier engines due to the short water pump, and that affected the balancer groove position.

The distance between the two radii should be 7/10", half an inch is fine.

I have my timing gears set on TDC on the #1 piston....when I go to put the HB back on where will the line most likely be at when lining up with the timing marks?
should it be lined up with "0" or I few degrees off?
