been takin apart my stock l98 since ive been bored and its just been sitting on my garage floor.

anywho i need to get the harmonic balancer off. i tried by hand but when i almost lifted the engine up and thought about that much cast iron landing on my foot i decided to ask first.

my friend said he used a steering wheel puller, it worked on his grand am, should it work for me?

 

go to AZ get a harmonic balancer. they are $15 for loan-a-tool
same principle as a steering wheel puller. make sure you have a friend put a screwdriver or crow bar in place between the puller and the balancer if the balancer starts to turn the motor which it most likely will.

 

my friend still has the steering wheel puller, sorry for not mentioning that. i take it that the steering wheel puller will work then?

 

Yes the steering wheel puller will work just use the appropriate bolts, I believe I used mine the last time I couldn't find my harmonic balancer puller.
