What does porting your comb. chambers accomplish?
Does it help the air/fuel mixture burn faster? I understand you want to do the intake and exhaust ports for better flow, but don't see flow being an issue in the comb. chamber. Just curious, thanks. Justy 84Z
it would open up the area around the valve, next to the side of the chamber. part of the valve basically has no clearance around it for gas flow, either in or out. plus a shinny chamber is suspose to promote flame travel and stop carbon build up. i'm sure lot of people know way more than me about this.

Well, ede pretty much said it all. I think the word you're looking for is POLISHING the chamber, because if you Port the chamber, that means you want to decrease the CR (sometimes needed). Yes, you also want to relieve the shrouding of the valves, but this, IMHO, is not considered porting. Polishing the chamber also reduces any hot spots that can promote denotation.

Porting the chamber really isn't what youre after....you port the ports on the head (get it?
) the main reason to polish them being to fight detonation by smoothing over hot spots, and making the surface harder for carbon to stick to.
