Is it bad on anything other than your tires??
engine??
tranny??
axels??
driveshaft??

not near as bad as hooking hard and launching. when you do you burn out everything slips and spins. just don't over rev the engine and you should be fine.

It can be very hard on the tranny and rear end as well. If you keep it in second on an A4 then that tends to be the best gear for that. It is very strong and it also has to do with how good your tires are. Like he said if everything spins it is not as hard as a good launch because the stress is releived through the spinning of the tires.
