Please help, out of the city, 42 trouble code
Ok guys, I'm out of the city for the weekend to visit some relatives like 400 miles away from home and my camaro just started to run like crap last night during acceleration.
I replaced the ignition module, cap and rotor this mornig and it runed fine for a while, but right now is doing it again.
It is trhowing trouble code 42.
Please help if you can.
Any ideas will be greatly apreciated. Thanks a lot.

Have you checked the connections at the detonation sensor, EST bypass, and EST module? I believe an '88 still has the separate module.
And isn't it nice to get out of town once in a while?

I did check all the wires connectios that I could, yes the knock sensor is connected.
The thing is that the problem is not persistent, it just happens some times, and then it goes away.
Yesterday I decided to come back home, and like after two hours of driving without any problems, I started loosing power very bad, it sounded like the car was going to die two times in like 3 seconds, and then I heard a loud explosion on the exaust, I mean loud, I even saw light under the car. The computer inmediately gave me an error code (42) again. I pulled over right away to check under the hood and could'nt find anithing loose. I checked the fuel pressure, and it was fine.
After I checked what I could, I started the car back again, and ir runed fine, and drove it the rest of the trip without any problem.
Any ideas.
What is the EST module and EST bypass and where are they located.
Thanks a lot for your input guys
