Mobil 1 Racing Synthetic ATF?

Car: 82 Berlinetta/57 Bel Air
Engine: L92/LQ4 (both w/4" stroke)
Transmission: 4L80E/4L80E
Axle/Gears: 12B-3.73/9"-3.89
Synthetic has advantages, such as better lubrication and better resistance to high temperature. I have a lot of miles on AMSOIL synthetic ATF in several vehicles over 17 years, and can recommend it without hesitation. I have not used the Mobil 1, but based on their other synthetic products, would summize that it is better than the standard off-the-shelf petroleum-based ATF.

57 Bel Air, my 1st car. Currently 396 .030 over, Weiand Action+, Edelbrock 1901 Q-Jet, Jacobs Omnipack, 1-3/4" headers, TH400 w/TCI Sat Night Special conv & shift kit, 3.08 10-bolt, AMSOIL syn lubes bumper-to-bumper. Best 15.1 @ 5800' Bandimere. Daily driver while Camaro was being put together.

I've been wondering the same thing as I want to put this in my tranny as well....

I just put it in my wife's car, seems to work fine :-). Hard to really say if it is better, I'll let you know in 150,000 miles if the transmission still works perfectly. :-).
Keep in mind that unless you do a fluid flush you'll actually only change about 1/2 the fluid... so you'll be running 1/2 regular 1/2 synthetic. Nothing wrong with that, the Mobil 1 says it's compatible with regular, but it'll take you a couple changes to be really running full synthetic.
