hmm my motor sounds like a deisel...

if i get right up next to the plenum with the motor warm i swear it sounds like a deisel motor running.

and if i rev the motor a teeny bit, i get a clack clack clack, almost like a piston slap but louder, not quite like a rod knock, very odd noise. it may be a spun bearing, and if it is, whats the life expectancy on this thing? it only has 4000 miles, why would bearing have spun already...

Anything's possible. I had a "professional" shop build an engine for my Talon. After 500 miles it spun one of the balancer shaft bearings.

Your best bet to find out what exactly is causing your "knock" is gonna be to teardown the engine. Other than that its kind of a hit-and-miss diagnosis.
