who has ZZ4 engines?

so.. who does? do they perform as well as you anticipated? i currently have a '74 Z28 and am looking at getting a 90-92 RS, but installing a crate motor. i was looking at the ZZ4, but i want to make sure that it will give me what i want(which is to blow the doors off most other cars ) what do you think?

Car: 84 Z28
Engine: 355 (fastburn heads, LT4 HOT cam)
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: 9-bolt, 3.27
You could always just get the short block, a set of the fast-burn heads, HOT cam, and a nice intake and be pushing around 430 HP! I have a list of the part numbers! Hehehe You would really be blowing some doors off then!

------------------
Working on:
'84 Z28 LG4 305
Added dual elec fans.
145 MPH IROC Speedo
Building 430 HP 350
using primarily GMPP parts.
Block is in shop!

Awaiting results from all 8 ASE tests.

Starting to look like the Kicker poster child!

I'll let you know when I crank mine up......whenever that is. Perhaps in the spring. It's really a modified LO5, but it has the ZZ4 rotating assembly. It should haul a-s-s!

------------------
'92 RS, ZZ4 10:1 350, Edelbrock 6085 heads, Crane 208/214 467/482 cam, GM/LT4 1.6 true roller rockers, Holley Projection TBI intake, Holley 670 TBI, SLP/Jet-Hot 1-5/8" headers, Catco 3" cat, Flowmaster 3" catback, Hughes 2500 stall converter, stock 700R4, Auburn Pro posi w/3.42, 17x9" SS rims w/BFG tires, Medium Quasar Blue w/white SS stripes, 48,000 miles....

yea, that is something else im considering. i looked at the ZZ4, the Fast Burn 385, and the 385 Truck Engine. i like the idea of how the torque looks on the truck motor(lowly 3500rpm). what i dont like is having to rev to 5k to get peak power, so would a ZZ4 short block be the way to go? and add my own heads(AFR in mind right now), cam, intake and so forth?

The Fastburn 385 makes 385 HP alone, but add the LT4 hot cam and 1.6 rockers and it goes to 430 hp. That's pretty hard to beat for about $4000.

Just my .02
