Whats a good Tranny and rear end set up?

1991 formula 305, 4speed auto, and stock rear end.

Im building a 383 with a powerband of about 2,500-6,500.
Should I keep the 700r4 with a 4.11 gear or a 3.73 gear?
Or should I scrap the 700and gowith a Turbo 350 or even a 2speed.
Is a powerglide 2 speed with a 4.11 a good Idea?

I was thinking of going 5 speed stick. What gear should i use with the manual?

Muncie (or T10/Super T10) 4 speed (with an install kit) and a 3.73 posi is what I would do.

Can't really answer your questions until we know what you intend to do with this beast when you get done building it.

my friend have a 73 Nova with a 307 and a PowerGlide, seem fine, so-so performance, but since the thing is almost stock, it's alright. He can spin the tires if wanted and seem to have a okay top speed for a 2speed.

a powerglide and 411's would make for a really ****ty street car.. as far as a manual a t-10, muncie, or a t-56 would be pretty decent choices.. stray away from the t-5 unless your really gonna baby the car and not beat it up too much.. they're pretty weak.. a th-350 would be a decent choice if your gonna stay auto.. pretty sturdy and parts are easy enough to get.. same goes for the rear.. if youre lookin to make power and speed i'd suggest a ford 9 inch or a 12 bolt.. personally i prefer 373's for a daily driver.. thats really your call though.. so it basically all boils down to what fiveseven already said.. what do you intend to use the car for???
