Shorted out starter, now power drains
Well last week i got quite a shock....The positive battery cable slipped over and melted through on the A.I.R. pipe, and shorted out...I managed to get it home , but the starter was really weak...so I replaced the starter and cable and battery with new...now I have a power drain...everytime I go to start ther car the battery is DEAD...charges up and starts, but drains again?
Plus when I drive for 10/15 minutes and come to a stop, the R's drop and the thing stalls, sometimes it restarts, but only after 5 minutes...
Not heating up bad, never reaches 180 most of the time?
The ALT gauge shows at 13, and I know it is charging...
Ideas...comments...swear words...
ALL comments appreaciated!!!

It is possible to fry the alt in such a way that it still charges (or at least appears to be doing so on the gauge), but also drains the batt.
Try disconnecting the alt next time you park the car after you turn the motor off, and see if the batt stays up for the next restart. If it does, then you know the alt is torched.

That's what i figured I would try next...The heat/stall issue sounds like the ignition module...I am guessing that could get "fried" by this secario as well?
Thanks...I will post tomorrow the results...
But I may not have a lot of time tonight as I have two tickets to the EAGLES/Bucs game....
