grrr! oil on manifold wont go away!!

i have this mystery leak on my intake manifold, there is no trail going to it, and its obviously not dripping, considering that there is nothing above it. a few people told me it was comming from the valve covers, but i replaced the gaskets there and under the intake. its back! could my valve covers be slightly bent, allowing oil to come through? and how in the world does it get in the little 'pockets' of the intake, with no trail from where it came from? anyone else have this problem?

You may have a loose intake bolt. Oil will certainly seep up the threads and onto the intake. Retorque all of the intake bolts in the proper sequence to 25-30ft/lbs.

You'd be able to see a bent valve cover lip. A quick inspection will rule that theory out.

If you are talking about a little pool of oil on the bottom of the base manifold...it is most likely coming from the centerbolts that bolt through the manifold into the head.

Solution: Dip the treads of the bolts in Teflon Thread sealer used in plumbing. It will stop the oil from weeping up the threads. Or you can use Teflon Tape, but the tape eventually breaks down, so the liquid thread sealer is preferrable. You can get it at any hardware store. Just tell them you are looking for thread sealer for plumbing and they'll get you the right stuff.

I have a little bit of oil in the "pockets" kinda near the injectors and runners, I think its the same place you're talking about. I have no idea where it comes from and there is a pretty small amount there, but if you figure it out let me know, cause its kinda annoying
