What's the best way to clean a set of Edelbrock RPM's. It has heavy carbon build up and sludge. I'd like somthing cheap and fast, possibly a way with the valves in tact.

Permatex 4MA Gasket Remover and the quarter car wash.

Be careful, that stuff will eat your skin. Make sure you get all of it off the aluminum when you're finished.

Grease Lightning? what is that? How about an engine de-greaser, and the coin washer?

Valvoline SynPower, I got it to dissolve combustion carbon on a pair of iron heads with 140,000 miles on them. Awsome stuff.

Valvoline synpower? isn't that fuel injector cleaner? did you use this with the head still on the car?? Maybe the super clean is the way to go?

No, it is a spray carb/throttlebody cleaner and I used it on the heads after I took them off, just to see how strong it was. I had already seen it dissolve the carbon build up in the IAC passages on my TB and wondered if it would attack the burned on carbon from combustion...dissolved it like it was water based paint.

But the truth none the less. Now I have flash rust in all of the combustion chambers, it stripped them that clean.

The best way of cleaning them heads is to give then to me.

Dawn takes grease out of your way. That and the brush at the carwash.
Then use some carb cleaner.
