Thermostat and heater

I changed out my 70 degree t/stat with an 80 degree. Now I have a little more heat than before.

Would this be the problem I have with the heater not working?

Obviously a hotter T-stat will give more heat. But your real problem may be that your original T-stat was stuck open. I generally find 4-5 years is about the maximum time before they become "weak" and need to be replaced.

BTW, do you mean 70*F to 80*F??? or did you mean 170*F and 180*F?

I meant 170 and 180. Incidentally, the t/stat does open and close. It works when going in town. I have 4 of them (195,180,170,160) and they were all bought within the last year.
