Over 400bhp with TPI! Is it possible?
Is it possible to get over 400bhp from a L98 before a super charger and N2O?? If so, what parts are needed (With part# if possible) as I'm going to do it.
If not, can someone recomend a good crate engine that will do it and that will still work with the TPI?
Also, what mods would need to be done to the TPI for the extra power?
I'm trying to keep it looking as stock as possible so loosing the TPI isn't an option unless it can really be helped/

check out the SDPC2k link at the top of this page, if you are into getting parts for an engine and having it assembled(i wouldnt recommend doing it urself) then check out a ZZ4 short block, go w/AFR195cc heads, ur choice of headers and other stuff... im sure you'll ahve to do some stuff for ur stock TPI set up to be able to breath enough to support those heads(they have amazing potential), but i'm sure it will hit 400. ive heard that a TPI doesnt support much more than 375-400 from people on this board, but with some mods im fairly sure it'd work
rmk,
if that is what your wanting get your wallet
out and prepare for some narley dollar amounts.
the only parts youll keep from the original
engine will be crank, block, pistons (possibly)
connecting rods (maybe likely)
replace:
induction system (replace with hi-flow parts) $1000+
heads (more hi-flow replacement) $1000+
camshaft/valvetrain (stock wont cut it) $600+
exhaust $800+
ignition (need to keep it lit) $400+
im not trying to push you away, but high horsepower
can get expensive.
ohh and drivetrain to support this... more $$$
IMHO

dude... he isnt funding joe amato here..exhaust 800+? i dont think so
and a nice ignition, or one that will fire 400hp wouldnt cost over 400bucks, less the market suddenly changed for small block chevy parts

Actually, for a good cat back, high flow cats and headers, $800 isn't too far off. Yeah, there are cheaper exhaust systems available, but for a decent one that isn't too far out.
