Need help hooking MSD up to 4-pin HEI
I guess my computer controlled HEI with in-cap coil was a 7-pin module and to hook up the MDS box was the same for a 5 and 7-pin module HEI. I got this vacuum HEI from Autozone that I think was for an early 80s Camaro (82?) and it has a 4-pin module in it. They sold the base only and I guess I have to use my cap/coil.
Well, the MSD instructions are different for the 4-pin and it says I need to get a special harness (that looks like it replaces the 3-wire connector that comes out of the base) and hook it up to the 2-wire Magnetic Pickup connector on the MSD box.
I tried to call MSD, but they don't work on weekends. I also can't just go out and buy the special harness at the parts store. I am wondering if I can just plug in the 3-wire connector from the base into the cap (just like the old distributor OEM did) and say screw the MSD box for now.
