I Bought an after market shifter **** for my five speed. There is, however one serious problem. The threads on the inside of the **** are signifigantly smaller than the threads on the shaft. The is no fitting (that I know of) that will make this adaption, especially without looking like crap. I also think that the **** will shatter if I try to tap it out. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Do what I did...be smart, don't be a retard...

Drill that bastard out and force-thread that badboy on there...it'll look good, and, it won't mess up your handle, just the inside of the ****.....and yes, you will be able to get it off there...unless you use JB Weld, but that's a different story altogether (only had to do that on my oldmobile Quad442 with that crappy flat shifter).
