Can anyone in the Dayton OH area help me?

Foreword: Moderators, PLEASE let this post stay. I know its bordering on non tech, but the people that I need to see it typically do not go to NEThirdgen. And I'm getting desperate here. Thanks....

I have been trying to diagnose my car for 2 weeks now, but have been unable to find the problem that is keeping my blower motor from working in my car. Its getting cold enough that I'm going to have to get professional help on this one. But the garage I usually go to is going to charge me an insane amount of money to fix it (they're good, but not cheap).

So what I am wondering is if there is a mechanic in the Dayton Ohio area that reads these boards, that does work on the side. I REALLY need to get this fixed, but I've already sunk in about $50 trying to do it myself, and cant afford to pay a shop tons of cash to fix it.

Can anyone help me? Or point me towards someone who will? I'm starting to get desperate as this is my only means of transportation, and temperatures will be dipping into the 20's this week

Did you check all of your connections? Your fuses? I'm fairly close to you here in Toledo, Ohio but I'm in the middle of a 6 speed swap. Check the easy stuff first if you already have not.

I've checked all my fuses, I've replaced the blower motor, and the fan switch. I don't have a garage to work on this thing, and frankly its getting too cold to stand out in the elements, and check connections. If I had a garage, I might be able to nail this problem down.

Could I wire the blower motor directly into the battery as a temporary fix?

I believe you could wire it directly if you install a switch to be able to turn it off when you shut the car off. Be careful not to create a fire hazard with cheap wire or bad connections though.

What gauge of wire should I use? And what kind of connectors?

a lot of line mechanics at dealerships work on the side. walk in the garage of the local chevy/pontiac dealer and ask the first mechanic you see if they work on the side. have you checked for power with a test lite? that would be my first move at this point, start checking until you have power and work out from there.
