Pino,

You should check the EGR solenoid valve (next to the distributor). It controls the vacuum signal to the EGR valve itself. You should also verify the connections from the EGR diagnostic temperature sensor. You can test the sensor the same as you would any other GM temperature sensor. Make certain all vacuum hoses are in good condition.

While the valve was off, did you inspect the EGR passages in the intake to be sure they were not clogged? Since the valve is already installed, you can test for this by reaching under the plenum and manually opening the valve by lifting on the diaphragm under the vacuum actuator. The engine should begin to stall with the valve open at idle.

HINT: Do this when the engine is not completely up to temperature, since the plenum and intake get warmer than you want to touch after running for several minutes.

Another possibility is the aftermarket EGR was not correct for your engine. If it was one of the generic units with the control oriface washers that stake into place, it may not be optimal for your engine. Those are made to fit a large number of engines and barely function on all of them. Your tolerances may be off just enough to prevent proper operation, especially with a positive backpressure EGR system.

I would expect that you could get a refund from Ought-Tow-Zone if you return the generic valve with a reasonable explanation of the problem.

I get an intermittent 32 on my 90 LB9. I have checked the valve and the solenoid and all seems ok. I remember reading in another EGR post or maybe one of the tech articles here that people have seen 32's after gutting their cats. Mine are empty also, I was just assuming that may be it on mine.

If the backpressure is reduced than the valve can't work right. I needs backpressure on it along with vacuum to open. I was thinking about taking mine apart and trying to weaken the spring to compensate for less back pressure. I don't know if a EGR valve can be taken apart though without breaking it. Nobody else seemed to know if this could be done from my other posts.

I have a flowmaster exhaust and a gutted catalyst and no code. I will see if it stays that way when I eventually do headers/3" exhaust.

hey craig, i had same problem, new delco egr and delco sensor and still got intermittent 32 only on startup sometimes. then replaced temp sensor on egr as what vader said earlier in this subject, have not seen code 32 since and car runs noticably better, sensor was like 10 $ only bad thing is plenum must be removed to replace temp sensor.

When I changed my EGR, I bought it from some parts shop. As soon as I put it on the light came on. Then I returned that and got an AC Delco one. No problems since then.....
