temperature sensor wtf

well I finally worked up enough ***** to change my plugs for the first time....and holy sh*t were they fouled. but ever since I jacked up my car and did that, my coolant temperature guage is just sitting there....no reading

So I looked under the car and I found the wire that I suspect needs to be connected....It's in the same plastic hose as my O2 sensor so I'm pretty sure....

but anyways it's a green wire with a connector and it's just sitting there...Where is this wire supposed to connect to? I read a post about the actual coolant sensor being mounted on the block next to the front drivers plugs....and i located it but there's nothing attached to it. Maybe it fell off? Any info and/or Pics please would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

look on your block between cylinders 1 and 3 there should be your coolant temp sensor right there just slide the wire connector over top of it, unless of course it's broken in which case you can't put it on, but you are correct, the sensor wire routes with the O2 sensor wire. Sorry camera not working otherwise i'd post a pic for ya.

The green wire is supposed to have the female half of a spade&lug connector on it with a plastic shroud around it and it just slides on the end of the sending unit sideways.

Should be the temp sending unit wire. Why not just get a spade/lug connector and hook it to the wire and then to the sender?

Wow thanks....So I can wrig it up , rather than getting the official wires? If you could give me a little run-down of the supplies and briefly explain the procedure...I'd greatly appreciate that. I don't want to end up paying the dealership a sh*tload if I can wrig it

Go to the auto parts store and buy some spade & lug connectors. Strip the wire end and put into a lug connector and crimp the connector. Slide the lug connector sideways onto the "button" on the end of the sending unit..vola! it is connected.

This is the wire you connect to the sending unit.

The wire that is in the same plastic hose as my O2 sensor is the green one with the tiny connector on it (that looks like something slides right over/into it). That wire is still there and is fine. What I'm worried about is the wire that is supposed to be connected to the actual sensor, then to the green wire. Morley, what do you think dude?

Can you get a picture of which wire you are talking about? If the sender wire is in tact (green wire) then just hook it up to the sender.

there is not a wire that comes off the sensor for the green wire to plug into.
the plug end on the green wire just slides over the end of the sensor.
