5.0 Litre Crossfire Intake Question

I have a 82 Z28 camaro, its almost fully restored, nothing wrong with it at all, no dents, scratches, 60,000 miles on the car, so i was wondering, what does intakes actually do for your car? how much horsepower would i actually get, and does it hurt the engine at all? i have been looking for a intake and i cannot find one for a crossfire, or am i just not looking at the right one? someone please reply and tell me where i can find one, thanks so much guys.. and maybe from 1 to 10 on how hard they are to install.. thanks..

Nate

too bad u didnt post a few months back, i just took off my xfire injection and threw it in the trash. i wouldnt have the foggiest idea of where to get one, cept to look around in a lot of junk yards, are pretty rare i'd think, just bc they suck so bad if your trying to restore, then good luck finding one, if your just putting the car back together, then i advise a carb. or other type of injection. they offer no more performance than a carb could give. thats why they got discontinued.

I assume you are talking about replacing your stock manifold with an after market improved version. Don't waste your money. Go to this site http://www.crossfire.homeip.net/
and learn how to make your CFI move out. Look at my sig and my 1/4 mi results. At first it looks like I should be doing better, but the long block and heads are late 70's, smogger, bone yard specials. I've spent less than 800 bucks. The CFI DOES work, you just need to know what to do to it - lots of hand porting.

go to www.x-ram.com . they make an aftermarket intake manifold for Cross-Fire . ive heard that you will lose ALOT of low end torque but you will gain upper-end power. someone said that before they put it on they could smoke their tires. and after they couldnt chirp them. the best thing i think you should do is get your intake manifold bored. hope this helps
