What is code 36? I tried to find where it talks about engine codes in the tech articles but couldn't find it. What is code 36? How do I fix it? Is it hard to fix?

Assuming its a TPI, thats the MAF burnoff code. I would try replacing the burnoff relay, and MAF power relay, and go from there.

They are on the driver side firewall. One of the relays there is for the fuel pump, the others are for the MAF. They are around $10 each. I think the fuel pump relay has a large tan wire and large orange wire going to it so you can tell the difference between them.

Chris,

If your car is a Firebird, it should look something like this:

How would the MAF power relay effect heating up the hot wire? I haven't replaced this relay because I thought it would have no effect..and wouldn't you have driveability problems with no power to the MAF? I'm sure it is obvious I don't exactly understand when this relay comes into play..thanks..

No no and..uhh.no..Vader is the most helpful person alive, but that picture is not if you have our cars. On mine, that looks completely diferent..same idea I guess but the placement is not at all the same.
