TBI fuel pump.
Alright I have an 87 formula with an LG4 in it. I also have access to a TBI fuel pump and an LT1 cam. Would it be a good Idea to swap in the TBI fuel pump.. regualte it down to a Q-Jet friendly 5psi and run the LT1 cam? hopefully that would give me a chunk of HP for under $100... (cam was $60, FP is free, regulator like $30?)
I would like 20 or so HP between upping the FP and the cam...

Your car already came with 2 fuel pumps: The mechanical one on the engine and a low pressure electric pump in the tank. They work in tandem. If you are holding adequate fuel pressure currently (above 5 PSI at all times through a run) there is no HP to be gained from using the TBI pump and regulator.
I find that actually measuring your fuel pressure is an excellent idea on a performance motor. Buy a cheap parts store remote fuel pressure kit. Tap it in just in front of the carb inlet and duck tape the gague (temporarily!) to the windshield and make a few runs. If you're outrunning your fuel system it will be obvious- fuel pressure will nose-dive at the top of every gear.
Cam is a different story. LT-1 cam shoud work reasonably well in the little LG-4. Stock LG-4 cam is a super-wimp. Purely an emissions cam- no real performance potential.

The main reason I was going to use the TBI pump is that the LT1 cam has no lobe to push a mechinical pump hence the need for a completely elictrical pump.
I was really asking if it was a good idea to neck down the TBI pump to carb range.

shouldnt really hurt the pump at all.. dunno what the cheapest adjustable regulator is though, i think the mallorys are around 80 or so

no... the two port that i assume your reffering to works by stopping the flow after the desired pressure has been reached. Get the mallory 3 port that allows teh excess fuel to bypass the regulator so the pump can stay cool.
