Where is this hole supposed to go??
Hey, when I bought my car the guy said something about a tube breaking off the cat. On the drivers side of it theres an air tube connected that goes upto the smog pump but I think its almost broken off.
Anyways, on the opposite side of the cat, theres like a half inch hole just open. Theres nothing around it to hook upto and I was wondering what to do with it?? It makes a hissing noise there and makes my car sound gay especially when im beside concrete barriers and other cars because it echoes back.
Any ideas where this goes???
Notice the little hole just to the right of center???

That is where the air injection system (A.I.R.) was connected to the catalyic converter. The previous owner probably removed it.

Yep part of the air system, I cut that off when I removed my smog pump and air tubes etc. If you want, just find something to plug the hole. possibly weld a piece of metal over it or something of the such. Of course now I have a new engine, and no cat so my smog days are long gone.

In a stock system air is sent to the cat to aid in the process of eliminating the oh so dangerous gases that are supposed to lead to the green house effect and global warming. Hey, thats what the EPA says and they MUST be smarter than we are RIGHT...
THe reason you think your car sounds "gay" is because it is an exhaust leak. I had the same problem when I removed my cat years ago to hollow it out. I had no welder handy to reweld the tube so I just left it dangling. It sounded so stupid next to walls and stuff, it was embarrassing...
