I want to take out my smog pump...

i was looking at the article on thirdgen.org about how to remove your smog pump, but i wanted to know if anyone could help me out with more details on how to remove it, remove the AIR, and what belt i should use... any links or tips would be awesome man... i wanna get that crap off my car, lol

well depending on what year thirdgen and engine u have.

but on my 91 350 tpi

take the pulley first, then unbolt the two bolts that hold the pump in, unbolt the metal tube going to the back of the pump and now the pump should be on the ground.

and rest is just unplugging the air hoses going from the top of the manifolds to the black box, disconnect and tape away the connectors.

after that u need to plug the two holes some how in the manifolds.

once that stuff is out, i had to use an older serpentine belt routing and get a 2 inch bigger belt than stock for my car.

my routing goes like this.

over a/c pulley, under tensioner, over and around alternator, under power steering, up and over water pump,under and around crank and back to over the a/c pulley.

hey thats the same route i used. lol, but i bought an underdrive pulley kit and the stock belt worked perfect.
