Alternator, spark(ing)plug, TEMP GAUGE
OK here's two questions.
First I wanna change the alternator in my car, see sig for data... 89 Camaro 5.7 TPI. I have read the following thread about it:
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=200506
but this is for a V6 and I was wondering if it's the same for me?!
Moreover, I've read this here: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=186199
About an unsteady voltage. I have the same issue, with my voltage sometimes being far below 13, around 8, and I was thinking if I change the alternator the problem will be solved? Or did I get the article wrong, so that this voltage thing is normal and a new alternator won't change it at all because it's just the way it is?
Second thing, I wanna throw in the Bosch Platinum spark(ing) plugs. What exact name/value do those spark candles
have, and does somebody know where I can order them right away?
And I have one last problem
Y'all know, when you turn ignition on, the gauges all show the current value like temperature and voltage and so on. If I fire the engine, my temp gauge shoots heavenwards for a second until the engine is running, and then comes down to show current temperature... Until now. The stupid thing just gets stuck showing up the heaven. When I knock against the glass of the gauge and its in good mood, it comes down. But these days its just being stuck, not coming down. How can I get the gauge to behave like it should?
Thanks for your time guys, greetings from Germany to you all

The alternator is very easy to change. Remove the belt by loosening the tensioner with some kind of 1/2 inch drive tool, remove a few bolts (disconnect the battery, too), disconnect the electrical connections, replace. I can change mine in under a minute.
As far as the voltage moving around, could be a couple things. If it's a replacement alternator, or an old one, it may just be dying.
Depending on how the voltage guage is moving, it may be normal. If you do replace it, make sure you get the correct amperage alternator.
Bosch platinum spark plugs are available at any auto parts store. Don't bother with the +2 or +4 plugs unless you feel like paying 5 times the price, regular are fine. If you can fit some kind of copper plug, that would be fine too. (edit. just realized you are in Germany.. not sure where to order the plugs online)
To fix your coolant temp guage you need to remove every piece of plastic infront of it, then trim the side of the sheet metal that the needle is getting stuck on. Just rotate the needle until it gets stuck, or use your key if you want, and you'll see what you need to do. It takes a small torx bit for the black plastic, and the clear plastic that covers the guage is probably a small metric screw.
