Header ?'s
Ok, I know long tube is better than shorty, and coated is better than not. But which is better? I only have 400 dollars to spend on them, so I can either afford non-coated long tubes, or coated shorties. Which would be better? The car is a TBI 305has no cat and a full cat-back exaust right now, but itll eventualy be tricked.

Hedman makes some very good headers...they're sort of a mid-length. Longer than shorties but shorter
than long tubes.
Great fit, lots of clearance around spark plugs ( very important ) and they're reasonably priced.

I wouldn't get long tubes if you care at all about your ground clearance. I have Hooker supercomp shorties #2055. The tubes tubes are huge and the y-pipe is like 2.5 into almost a 3.5 pipe at the cat. I, of course have no cat either and they work great. They also came with air injector fittings and o2 sensor threads if you need them. They are not coated so they do get hot. If you need coating ones I think that summit sells them. The tubes are not dimpled at all by the bolt holes to the head to permit maximum flow. I do wish mine were coated though.
