engine dies when hooking tach
I have a 88 iroc, I have ditched the ecm and running a 350ci with
a hei distributor with the vaccum advance. The coil is in the distributor. The white wire on the coil is supposed to be the tach hookup wire, but when I hookup the tach to the white wire the car won't start. When I start the car and try hookup the tach the car dies. The tach i'm using is a Mallory with the built in rev limiter and shift light. The tach does work on my other car. WTF is going on.

Maybe, but the white wire coming out of the coil isn't on any terminals its just hanging out. But just to make sure i'm going to take a look at it right now.

Okay I looked at the coil in the cap and there are 6 wires coming out. The white wire is the only one not used, so what's going on.
Anyone?
