installing roller rockers..a few ques..

i have a set of roller rockers and want to install them in my 305. but i have a few questions(never done something like this before). do i just remove the old stamped ones and install the new ones a tq then down, they have the 12pt adj tops.
and would i be able to put them in a diffrent engine or heads in the next few mos.

rockers on a SBC don't torque down. you have to adjust the rocker to get the correct amount of lifter preload. with the valves closed tighten the rocker nut untill the push rod stops spining (spin it while you tighten) then 1/2 turn more should be good. if your rocker nuts have a set screw tighten it up after settign the lifter preload.
