Gas mileage at high speeds?
Gas mileage at high speeds?
I have an 88 GTA with the 350 TPI. Today I took a little road trip which was 207 miles round trip. I filled up to the brim right before I left and hit the highway and cruised around 85 to 90 mph the whole way there and back. By the time I got back, I was burning fumes. Is this normal for going fast like this? My RPM's were around 3,000. I have the automatic tranny too. Thanks for any info! Matt

Even when my mileage suffers cause I'm playing with the gas I still average about 300 miles on a highway trip. But I also have a VERY large gas tank it seems.
The one time I ran it down to fumes, I was gettings serious fuel starvation in light turns. When I filled up it took 19.5 gallons
Now, I don't know of any factory gas tank holding that much, so wow. I don't think my gas tank is stock.

The tanks are 15.5 gallons give or take. I've heard of early 12 gallon tanks or so but never seen one.
