HP and TQ of a 434 SBC
HP and TQ of a 434 SBC
Looks like that's the engine I'm going with. It's a .030 over 400 with a stroker crank. It's going into my '88 IROC, which is mostly street driven, but occassionally taken to the track. I have a few questions. 1) What kind of HP & TQ can I expect? It's an all forged rotating assembly, 10.5-1 CR, with the solid cam of my choice. 2) What lift and duration cam should I consider for such a large cube small block? 3) Last but not least, are my Canfield 197 CC out-of-the-box heads going to be enough to keep that monster fed with plenty of oxygen? They flow right up there with the AFR's, so they're solid heads. I can get them hogged out before they go on the 434 if need be. I think I'm covered everywhere else... Mini-Ram w/ 58 MM on the intake side, and 1.75 Hooker LT's expelling the spent gasses. Engine mgmt. is DFI. BTW, I've got a 150 shot too. Should be one helluva ride.

I was going to build a 434 before I built my 406 and the bigger AFR 227 heads were recommended to me instead of 195's or 210's. That in mind I'd say that you'd be better off having them ported to flow really well.

Hehe... go .040" over and see all the weird looks you get when you say you have a 440 in your Camaro
Actually I plan on telling everyone that the 434 is just a 355 with a real bad attitude. Gotta keep a low profile ya know... What would you be more apt to race for $500 if you had...say a Mustang with a Vortech, a 355 or a 434 on juice? Gotta pay for that engine somehow....hehe...
LMAO. Serously, I doubt anyone will believe its a 355, let alone a 305. Never hurts to try though I guess. I'm wondering if that 434 will have a different sound to it, than say a 355. I'm thinking they would sound the same though.
Seriously, you think I can make 525 or 550 HP, and 575 ft/lb running on pump gas and remaining fully streetable? That's my goal. Throw that 150 shot in there, and things could get REAL interesting.

one of my buddies has one. on pump gas he puts down just over 500 at the rear wheels. i forget the exact number, but it made over 500. it's in a 72 chevelle though. doesn't sound like a 355, but could be past off as one to someone unsuspecting.
