swapping 305 internals

I have a low mileage rebuilt 305 HO in my 84 trans am, unfortunately the block is bad, my question is this, I found a very cheap 305 roller cam short block that is tired, will my internals such as pistons, heads, rods work with the stock roller block, I realize my cam won't, is my flywheel the same as the 1 piece rear main one, harmonic balancer the same, does a 84 305 have the same size jounals as a 87 up.

my rebuilt 305 ho had like 4000 miles on a bored and balanced rebuild, so should I be able to simply bore the roller block, and throw new rings on my pistons and crank bearing and run it

It's not that simple, Rods, pistons shuold work, crank is different, due to 1pc (roller block) vs 2 pc seal (your block). Your flywheel is for the 2pc setup as well.

Pre-87 (maybe '86) 305 blocks should be easy to come by, if you really want to reuse your stuff and bore the block, infact you should be able to pick one up for next to nothing.

I might add, they do make a crank seal adapter, come to think about it and IIRC, it's for guys stroking a 1pc seal block with a 400 crank. It may work for you, check all the usual places (Summit, Jegs, etc) to get info, or maybe someone will post up.
