Winter Plans

Yup, its almost that time again. I fear the day the snow starts to fall and the roads get covered in salt. So I got to thinking, what do I want to achieve next year, which would be 12's. Heres what I want to do:
-Ported LT1 Intake
-Port & Polish Heads
-ZZ4? Cam w/1.6 rockers
-3.73s
-Relocation Brackets, Arms, Panhard Rod

For the porting and polishing, is it that hard to do? I don't want to screw up my heads and be back at square one. But it's not like a set of 305 heads are hard to come by.

For the cam, how much duration can I go before I start to have problems with computer? Could I go bigger, like a hot cam? I know ill need a new chip, but what about the vacuum since my car is speed density? If I don't just buy a chip from someone like www.pcmforless.com, how much would all the burning stuff cost? Is it hard to learn?

All in all, will I be able to hit 12's? I wanna beat up LS1 cars

No matter what your going to need a chip so why hold back I would go all the way with the LT4 hot cam. It's way better than the ZZ4. The idle sounds awsome and this cam will make your car run like a beast.

so the 218/228 wouldnt be too much, cause thats my only area of concern. I know ill need new springs, but what about lifters and pushrods?

KAG,

Do you know New87? He's got one of my PROMs. I never heard from him about the results, but I know he also blew a transmission before he got to try it out. Maybe it didn't work out too well for him, or maybe he never got the car back together.

Regardless, reprogramming isn't that difficult. Even I can do it. The PROM board has some excellent resources.

Sweeeeettt man .....I wanted to do up my 305 but I spun a bearing ....so I built a 355

I have a friend running the LT4 Hotcam setup ....... it didn't like the TPI .......too restrictive ......so he got a Stealth Ram ...and a bigger stall ...and 3.73's

with the bigmouth base ...SLp runners .....and the 3.73's ( stock converter) he pulled a 13.9 ...... and that IS with prom tuneing

I am curious what you will get out of it in your 305 man
