trying to get diagnostic codes

The check engine light on my wifes 1985 IROC is on and I tried to go out and get the codes to see what the problem is. Well I went out there and the metal connector on the #12 pin isnt there. I know you are supposed to jump the 6 and 12 pin but since the 12 pin isnt there is there another way to get the code?

Don't know if this will help you, but on my 1985 Z28 I shorted pin 5 and pin 6 to read my codes. Maybe that's why you are missing pin 12, because you don't need it?

Check for sure before you try it though, I don't want to be the reason for you blowing your computer up!
