Got a new toy...

Just bought a 1984 z28. Been looking for awhile, and got this one for 1,300.00. i didnt think that was so bad. It has a 350 with a 5 speed tranny, so thats cool. body needs work, but i wanted to do a full restore anyways. Just thought i would share my new joy.

That's what I like to see! A thirdgen is always a good buy in my book.

Better make sure it really does have a 350 and 5 speed. Check the casting numbers on the block to make sure. At any rate, nice buy

Yes check the casting numbers. Buddy of mine was told he had a 350/5 speed combo. We checked the casting numbers and it was a 305 from a truck. Car was originally a v6/5speed so I figured it probably was a 350...oh well hes getting a 400 for it now AND and automatic.

I also found a new toy. I havent got it yet but I am pleased to say it is almost a steal. Sitting out at an friends house(who I havent seen in years) is a '92 Z28. Its got a rod knock in its 305 TPI. It needs some repair on the front spoiler, but the body is straight, and the paint seems ok. I just need to take the algee and dirt off with a scrub brush. The windows need retinted, 'cause its peeling. It even has the same 17'' wheels I have on my '91. And the best part is I'm getting it for 500 bucks. If it works out I may keep it for a new daily driver, since my 91 is no longer a daily. Might turn and burn it to fund a supercharger.... Anyway, I cant brag to much until I pick it up, but it isnt going anywhere.

Yeah i will probably do that... you never know for sure, but it moves, and the guy said it had a 305 h.o originally, which when i ran the vin, it said it had, then he said they dumped a 350 in it.. either way im happy, but where is the best place to look for the tag? i want to know what version of the 350 this is to see what the HP rating is anyways...

thanks

Thanks, it will be a long process, but the end goal is 400+ HP and basically a brand new car... I have a lot of local resources, so it should go pretty good. Already picking up new fenders and other bopody panels this weekend...
