Burning smell when car starts.

A couple months ago,my car started smoking on every cold start.I figured valve seals. But now,a burning smell accompanies the smoke. It just started a few days ago and only lasts for a few seconds.Could it be oil due to my seals getting worse? I'm almost sure it smells like oil,but not 100% sure. But I didn't think it was normal for the seals to go from small puffs of smoke to oil refinery smoke clouds smelling like burnt oil in just a matter of weeks,is it?Or could it be something other than my seals or two different things?

I'd say it's probably just your seals, unless it's doing it while you're driving down the road, especially when you step on the gas. If that's the case, either your valve seals and possibly guides are seriously worn, or you're getting excessive blow-by on your piston rings, which a compression test would help determine.
