HELP! Please Help me!
I can't figure this out!
Ok... here wo go:
The car has developed a strange problem. The neutral safty switch on the shifter was wired kinda funny. Anyway, when I try to put the car into run, the starter makes this god-awful *thudthudthud* at warp speed! Like its grinding. So I though "hmm..dead solinod", replaced it (tested the starter off the car when r&r). Put it back on, Still got the same thing. Figured it could have been the ignition switch itself.. making bad contact. So, replaced it....STILL get the same thing! When I jumper the starter, it rotates just fine... but I dunno what the **** is wrong with this! Any ideas? it just went from running to dead (and has been for a good 2 weeks now).
HELP ME!
Uggg...any more problems and someone is going to get a hellova deal on a stroker 3rdgen

BBT,
If the starter is jumpered and it works just fine, but it doesn't seem to work right when installed, the first thing I would investigate is the solenoid. The contacts could be weak, or the pull-in coil could be weak. Check the contact disc and studs, and the coil resistance (should be about ten ohms).
A poor battery or cable connection could be causing voltage drop and releasing the starter when it is loaded by the engine, but I would doubt that it would work correctly when jumpered.
