Gas gauge works again?

Ok, for the last year and a half my gas gauge has been stuck on full. I just didn't feel like fixing it. So anyway, 4 days ago I had to do some welding on my exhaust. So I remove the positive batt cable(which I've done many, many times since my gauge stopped working). I do my welding and hook it back up and start the car to leave my driveway. I look down and the gas gauge is at half. I think WTF, I drive it for the next couple of days and the gauge goes down like normal, so I asume it's working again. How I don't know. I still don't trust it though. Any ideas on how and why it started to work again after all this time? Oh this is all on my 92.

Laters,
Conrad

Sounds like it was just stuck on the top. You probably dislodged it by moving the car around. Next time it happens just take off the plastic infront of the guage and snip/bend the sheet metal it's getting stuck on so it can't get stuck, then it wont ever happen again.
