Just got a tpi setup.. questions..

I just got a tpi setup today for 80 bucks.. seemed like a decent price.. its off a 305.. did the l98's come with a bigger throttle body? i know i need a different chip and larger injectors to run it on my 350.. my 350 is a 70 block, will i have a place to put the knock sensor in?? how about the oil pressure switch that goes by the oil filter? also i have no emissions equipment, what will i need to do to eliminate the egr? can i block it off and have it deleted from a prom? anything else i should be aware of? suggestions, info, comments, anything is appreciated.. thanks!

No.

Not necessarily. 350s have been known to be quite happy with 19lb injectors run at a higher pressure (adjustable fuel pressure regulator). If you're doing PROM tuning (per your question about EGR), then you don't need a different chip, just different programming.

my 350 is a 70 block, will i have a place to put the knock sensor in??
Yep, all SBC's from 1955 through the LT1 have the block drain hole into which the factory mounted the knock sensor.

how about the oil pressure switch that goes by the oil filter?
Probably not. Tee it into another source.

also i have no emissions equipment, what will i need to do to eliminate the egr? can i block it off and have it deleted from a prom?
Probably.

anything else i should be aware of? suggestions, info, comments, anything is appreciated.. thanks!
Exactly how much of this TPI system did you get? The TPI in-tank fuel pump runs at a higher pressure than the TBI part is capable of producting, for instance.

Porting the plenum is helpful for a 305, so even moreso for a 350. Stock runners are a pretty good source of restriction as well.

What exhaust are you running?

hmm i still have the intake fule pump from my v6 fi setup.. how much of a problem will that be? am i gonna need to replace it? if so any suggestions on a good pump? as far as how much of the setup i got i have the entire setup including all sensors, i just dont have the wiring harness or ecu.... sounds like my fuel pump may be a problem too.. right now im running a pathetic 1 3/8th no name shorties to a 2 inch ultra restrictive home made y pipe by a retard to a 2 and a half inch restrictive pipe back to a flowmaster 70 series.. exhaust system needs a major overhall.. i also know im gonna need a different cam as the cam i'm currently using makes power around 3500-7000 and we all know the tpis flow range is a tad under that.. only reason i'm downgrading to this tpi system from my carb is to make the car pass emissions, inspection, and so i can daily drive it and get more then 8 mpg.. i'd like to keep some proformance if possible though.. kinda shame to waste such a built up bottom end on somethin like this....as for the runners, i was considering getting the slp runners, but out of curiosity and cost savings, would the stock runners be decent if ported? is the stock tb a decent piece? i was also considering some 24lb injectors and doing the lt1 intake swap to attempt to get some flow out of this thing... any input?

Ah, V6. I saw "RS" and assumed 305 TBI. Good news there is the V6 pump should be fine.

You really need to get a hold of a harness & ECM from a vehicle like the one this TPI came from.

Stock runners have two problems: flow area & length. They're too thin to have much hope of porting, too long for power above 5k RPMs. So, replacement is about the only choice.

Stock TB is fine until you start modifying the whole package for higher power operation.

LT1 intake swap is almost as much of a step from TPI as TPI is from carb.

glad to hear the pump will be ok.. dont feel like droppin that damn tank.. are the slp siamesed runners decent? you mentioned porting the plenium.. how much should i port it? doesnt seem to have too much metal to work with to start... and what did you mean by your last comment about the lt1 intake swap? as far as i know all i'd have to do is have it drilled for a dist and elongate the 2 center bolt holes... thanks for all your help, its really appreciated!
