Idling question..
Sorry to ask so many questions, but...
Recently my cars been idling rather rough, and shaking at red lights. Sometimes it doesnt even want to keep started unless it keep my foot on the gas. And when I shift from Park to Drive it jumps. It only started this recently. We found that one plug wire had a rip in it from the manifold. We replaced it. And he said that after driving for a few days it should clear up. We had replaced it in May along with all the others.
Note that I also put ****ty 89 gas in it a few times and the thing on the left of the carb had been off for at least a few days.
My question is...Should it clear up? Or should I just ask him to replace the plug and I should check the other wires too? Could it just be something completely different? Also my choke light is on, but its been that way since february and hasnt caused problems.
Nate

Choke light on usually equals "needs an alternator". Due to some slightly over-elegant engineering on the factory's part, the third most important warning indicator in the car is labelled with that inscrutable label.... some engineer who had never in his life actually fixed a car, must have dreamed that one up.
There's a "Choke" fuse; check it, make sure it's good; if it is, you need an alternator.

where would the choke fuse be? Ive never had any problems starting the car up or anything since feb. the light has been on...since then..It even went off for a few weeks. I doubt I need an alternator... but you never know right..
