Is my set-up ready for the Mini Ram?
I have a 383, 700R4, 2500 stall conv. and 3.27 gears(kinda bad here I know). The cam is a comp cam roller 112 LSA 264/274 duration and .480/.480 lift. The comp. ratio is 10.7:1 and I have Edelbrock Performer heads. Hooker Shortie comp headers with 3" no cat exhaust. I've been readin up and it's my understanding that the Mini Ram loves lots of duration. The TPI is stock w/afpr, airfoil and custom prom. The engine pulls very strong, what do you think. Is it ready for the Mini Ram with 30 lbs injectors? It is about 350 horse right now would it get 450-500 with the Mini?

Greg,
The TPI was never designed to feed an engine that large. Even with larger injectors and higher pressure, you would need larger runners, a ported intake and plenum, and probably a 58 mm TB to feed that displacement enough to make any serious power. The Mini-Ram is designed to feed a larger (at least 350) engine at higher RPM, so it would probably be more suited to your installation. That displacement might even be on the edge of a Super Ram, since you have a longer stroke. In either case, feeding the engine at higher RPM while maintaining a decent torque output is where the horsepower will build fast. The TPI isn't going to get it done without major modifications.
The longer valve duration is probably keeping the TPI from delivering maximum charging effect, so the advantages over a shorter runner intake system may be all but gone. About all you can say is that it meters fuel efficiently and looks cooler than a smaller intake.

Ya, I knew the TPI was holding it back but I am working my way up. Do you think the Mini Ram would really open it up with that cam and engine size?
