Tire Pressure for Blizzak Snow Tires???
Tire Pressure for Blizzak Snow Tires???
Bridgestone Blizzak snow tires. They work awesome!!! Problem is the centers burn out real easy. Normally you would think that this is from too much air pressure (I ran them at 32 psi), but when I ran them at a lower pressure (24psi) they did the same thing! Does anyone know what the deal is here?? I do a lot of highway driving (70-75MPH), is this the problem, just too fast for them??? Thanks for any responses.

Blizzak tires are great provided the road is covered. But if you travel on bare roads, they burn up really fast. Its because the compound they use is really soft.
I just recently got involved with this issue in our Ministry because we had this very same complaint from areas which didn't have snow on the roads 100% of the time, whereas we had NO PROBLEM from our Northern region, which has snow on the roads all the time.
The ultimate decision was to use different tires in the regions that didn't have as much snow (continuously) as our Northern area. So if your roads are not ALWAYS covered with snow during winter, consider a different winter tire next time. We chose Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice for those regions which have snow 50/50 on the roads. It is a harder compound and will last longer if you have to drive on bare roads during winter.
