Should I buy this IROC rag top

Hello
I am considering this car that a friend has for sale. I already have a Real nice low mile 85 IROC only 13,000 Original Miles. It's very nice and I have finally got all the bugs out.
But this is a rare one.(I think) Its a white 1989 IROC rag top.
I needs some TLC it has over 100,000 miles on it. So it would need to be restored. Paint, Engine, Trans, ETC. Although it runs good and the piaint is not really that bad but not perfect. It will need a new top and some interior work also. but the price is right I think $3500. I figured to get it back to mint I would have to spend about $6500+ the inital $3500 for the car.. And heres the kicker I would have to sell My 1985 To make room in the Garage and the Budget... What do you guys think? I liked the 68 rag top that I used to have. And I figure that the 89 could only be better.

Thanks
Kristian

I'd go with what you have already. I have a feeling that's not what you want to hear, but that's what I'd do.

Thanks for the your thoughts. I am leaning that way the more I think about it. But a rag top would be nice. I was really wondering If there were any big Modifications or real diferences.
He told me It was a 305 TPI Less HP than The 305 in the 85 I think. The rag top is an 89.. Thanks agian for you input. My wife agrees with you..

I'd have to see both cars to make a complete decision, but I think you'd be better off putting that money into your current car. I mean, I bet your car is in better condition, especially with the drivetrain mileage difference.

But if what you truly want is the 89 ragtop, nothing I say is gonna make a difference. It will take a lot of work and money to get it in shape, so keep that in mind. However, if it's really what you want and your current IROC isn't your daily driver, then do it. If you have to sell a daily driver to get a project car, however, the decision is simple.

Just be sure to think it all out and you'll make the right decision.

89 IROC-Z verts are the most produced convertible thirdgen.

I used to own one that was mint, and I now have a 88 hardtop which I am much happier with.

Ive got a 88 IROC vert now and I like it alot, only problem I have with it is that the convertible specific parts are expensive to replace. Good luck with whatever you decide.
