How can I tell?

How can I tell if Im running rich?...I get no SES light. If I am, how can it be fixed?
I have an AFPR, do I just lower the preasure?....if it is set to high will that cause me to run rich and get bad gas mileage?..
I used to get about 280 to a tank and now I get way lower than that....

look at the plugs. install a a/f gauge or an EGT gauge. you can read the voltage from the o2 and corralate that to rich or lean.

Wish,

You can also install a jumper in the ALDL AFTER the engine is running, allow the engine to enter closed loop, and drive it while monitoring the MIL/SES lamp.

If the ECM is in Open-Loop mode, the SES light will flash rapidly, about 2½ times per second. If it's in Closed-Loop mode, it will flash about once per second. When in Closed Loop mode, flashing less than once per second indicates the ECM is enriching the mixture above the 128 count base line. Flashing more than once per second indicates the ECM is leaning the mixture below the 128 base line.

If your light flashes faster than once per second, you're probably rich and the ECM can't compensate.

Wish,

There are a few things you can do, including reducing fuel pressure. But first you should find out if it is running rich. A clogged PCV can also cause rich idle/low throttle, along with a host of other things.
