350 truck engine

i had a 350 engine given to me out of a 87 truck. its in the shop right now getting checked out. i've been looking for compression numbers for that year and the dish volume but can't find any. do you know what the compression and dish volume is or where i could find out? what do you think the compression would be with about 58cc heads(thats about what 041s would be milled .035 right?)?

they had something like 200 or 220hp at the wheels right? if so, if i put on a set of 041 heads, a roller cam like a comp XE270HR, raised the compression a little, put on some headers, a performer intake and 600cfm carb thats got to be worth at least 75hp getting it close to the 300rwhp mark i want to be at. do you think thats about right?

also, did most of them have about the same deck clearance? it looks like its got a lot, at least .060.

Should have 140 - 150psi on compression test. They cam with crap 76cc swirl port heads, I guess with 58 cc heads you would be about 10.5 to 1. They had 210 horse at the fly (not wheels). With that cam intake and heads you could see 300 at the wheels, (easilly with some nice heads, pretty hard with those swirl port heads)

do you know what the piston dish volume is? if its 12cc with 58cc heads, a .042" thick gasket and .020 deck it comes up to 9.6:1 on desktop dyno, which is almost exacly what i want. i'l just have to get the heads cc'ed to make sure there 58cc and go from there. i might have to get new pistons so i'l probably get 12cc dished ones and just deck it to whatever the head volume comes out to be since it has a very bad deck clearance right now.

It's the standard 12cc dish same any 99% of the 350's out there.
Would be real nice if it is a roller block but.......... BTW 90% of the truck blocks even the Z series 4x4's came with 2 bolt mains so unless it came from a 1 ton+ it should be a 2 bolt, come to think of it I even have a 2 bolt from a 91 extended cab 2500. :nono:GM
